From a multiple tender, eds was awarded the contract to undertake the total turnkey demolition of the former Viscose Fibre Plant at Pyewipe in Grimsby.

This high profile project utilised eds’s multi-faceted core services with specific focus on safety monitoring including stringent chemical and fibrous hazard assessments for existing site material.

  • Post staged asbestos removaleds commenced demolition works encompassing strategic removal of existing equipment and programmed demolition of specified site structures and buildings.
  • The scope included demolition of the core steel cellulose production building, sulphuric acid plants, volatile CS2 plants, pulp stores, fume scrubbers whilst undertaking parallel techanical dismantling to remove items such as slurry presses, flare stacks, chimneys, ducting and pipe work.
  • In order to minimise waste disposal and project costs eds evaluated, processed and crushed suitable material as backfill for voids.

The 1 year detailed project programme was successfully managed and delivered to schedule and budget with total client satisfaction. By instigating regular project meetings and achieving milestoned performance indicators good lines of communication catalysed successful completion.

To ensure complete compliance to all safety legislation and environmental impacts on site, eds prepared approved quality assured project specific Health & Safety Plans, COSHH Assessments, Method Statements and Risk Assessments thus mitigating potential hazards.

A good working and strong partnering relationship was formed between eds and CEL, which delivered total client satisfaction for Acordis who expressed their appreciation with an overwhelming reference letter. Upon project completion CEL presented eds with a safety award for 70,000 hours of safe working on site without a lost time accident.

On the foundations of this successful project, eds have been awarded and undertaken multiple projects with Acordis and CEL which have resulted in successful execution and completion.
