eds have received yet another accreditation from the International Organization of Standardization for its Environmental Management System. The accreditation is the ISO 14001 and eds have been awarded this accreditation in each field of work they do; decommissioning, demolition, dismantling, decontamination, land remediation, industrial services, asbestos removal and asset recovery.

To receive this accreditation eds has achieved numerous things such as identifying and controlling their environmental impact; the services they provide or activities they undertake. A further task eds had to do was to makes improvements to their environmental performance and this is done continuously to accomplish this accreditation. Besides making improvements to their environmental performance eds needs a systematic approach to receive ISO 14001 and therefore things such as setting environmental objectives and targets are needed so they can be achieved. Adding to the requirements to achieve an ISO 14001 eds also has to demonstrate that there objectives and targets have been meet.

The ISO 14001 is an internationally recognised accreditation and for eds to have it in each of their provided areas is a huge achievement. The reason for having an environmental management system accreditation is that customers can see that eds are complying with all up to date regulations and legal requirement because to receive the ISO 14001 eds must comply with all necessary regulations. eds also benefit from having this accreditation as they can use it for their internal objectives such as cutting down on the impact that their activities have on the environment.

Talking on the behalf of eds is the Managing Director Darren Palin:

"To achieve this accreditation in each of the services we provide is an achievement that both the client and eds benefit from. eds benefits from the ISO 14001 as it lets our clients know that we comply with all relevant legislation and that we have the environment in our best interests. Further more, the accreditation also helps our clients and our selves because the ISO 14001 can help reduce costs."
