eds have work on some of the largest nuclear contaminated demolition projects in the UK, including Capenhurst Works, Chester. eds have also decommissioned the Chapelcross nuclear power plant in Scotland, one of the oldest within the UK.
Chapelcross nuclear power plant was built on a previously operational war time RAF training base. Commissioned in 1959 and housed 4 x 50 megawatt magnox reactors, along with a processing plant. Chapelcross nuclear power plant was the very first of its type on Scottish soil and the magnox reactors were developed to manufacture plutonium for the military, as well as power for the civilian market. Chapelcross became inoperative in the summer of 2004.
